CT Patients Protection
Eyes and thyroids are among the organs which are very sensitive to X-ray radiation
and afford a special protection during CT examinations.
For example the ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection) has
estimated that the threshold for detectable opacities in the lens from a single brief
exposure to be 0.5 – 2Gy. A yearly exposure of more than 0,1 Gy can lead to radiation cataracts.
Therefore the International and National Commissions on radiological protections
recommend shielding for eyes and thyroids.
CT Eye and Thyroid Shields are the result of extensive development to produce
a technically advanced and cost effective shielding for patients undergoing
CT procedures.
